FAQ - POP Email Clients - New Accounts

How Do I Setup An Email Address In Mac Mail?

Description: The steps below assume that you have a valid, active email account already setup with SolutionPro. While you are in the Mac Mail program, perform the following steps:

  1. Click  the File menu
  2. Click Add Account
  3. Click New
  4. Select POP from the Account Type dropdown
  5. Type SPRO in the Account Description
  6. Type your full email address in the Email Address field
  7. Type your name in the Name field
  8. Click Continue
  9. Type in the following for Incoming Mail Server: mail.spro.net

    NOTE: OPTIONAL If you have your own domain name and your email does not end with @spro.net, change the Incoming Mail Server settings to: mail.yourdomain.com

  10. Type your Full Email Address in the Username field
  11. Type in your Password
  12. Click Continue
  13. Uncheck  Use SSL
  14. Select Password from the Authentication dropdown
  15. Click Continue
  16. Type in the following for Outgoing Mail Server: mail.spro.net

    NOTE: If you have your own domain name and your email does not end with @spro.net, change the Incoming Mail Server settings to: mail.yourdomain.com

  17. Check the Use Authentication checkbox
  18. Type your Full Email Address in the Username field
  19. Type your Password
  20. Click Continue
  21. Uncheck  Use SSL
  22. Select Password from the Authentication dropdown
  23. Click Continue
  24. Verify your settings then click Continue
  25. Click Done
  26. Click Mail at the top left of the window
  27. Click Preferences
  28. Select the Accounts Icon on the left is selected
  29. Click the Server Settings button
  30. Type 587 in the Server Port field
  31. Uncheck  Use SSL
  32. Select Password from the Authentication dropdown
  33. Type your Full Email Address in the Username field
  34. Type your Password
  35. Click Ok
  36. Click Close

That’s it!

NOTE: If you are unable to send email after you have changed these settings it is possible that your internet service provider may be blocking your outbound email for security reasons. Providers such as Cableone, Verizon, and Clear have been known to do this. If this scenario applies to you, all outgoing email support questions will need to be directed to your ISP. SolutionPro does not have the ability to manage outbound email restrictions set in place by an internet service provider.
